In The Beginning...

It all started with this guy.

A canvas ornament I had finished for entry to the county fair.  Now no one had seen it until it was entered as it happened that year that the judge knew me thru the local EGA chapter and to be totally impartial, they are not to know who entered what.  It was afterwards while she was looking at how I finished it, that she said to me 'Have you ever thought of doing this on the side?'.  I said 'you really think its that good?' and she said 'Yes, you ought to consider it'.  And since I was unemployed at the time in my 'normal'  day-job, I thought why not and The Finishing Touch needlework finishing services was started.  That was actually about 8 years ago.  I did get a new day-job (my creature comforts require more $ than a finisher can bring in), but I have continued doing finishing for myself & others since.  And it was just an ornament. I did get 2nd place on it, but my other piece I entered got the Blue and Grand Champion.  I can't complain.

As I build this Blog I will be posting pictures of various pieces I have done - my own and for others, to give you an idea of my background.   I have been stitching since 1980, starting with Needlepoint, then Cross Stitch in 1983 and ended up learning Blackwork, Hardanger, Pulled and Drawn Thread, & various beading where ever I can stick it in. That is all due my joining EGA(1994), ANG(2000), SGR(Sampler Guild of the Rockies-2000) & RMBS(Rocky Mtn Bead Society).

I still hang all my stitched/beaded ornament pieces on the tree every year - and am VERY glad I dated them!  This was done in 1980 & stitched on both front & back.  The cuff is turkey work and it is stuffed. I'll try to get a side view shot to add here.

Below are some more photos of ornaments of the past.  I will be posting pictures of other items as time goes on.  Check back when you can.
